The company using this isn’t mentioned, but I think it’s really interesting that businesses other than Amazon are utilizing this. I’d heard rumors of something similar when I worked in market research, but it seemed more crude and seemed to be geared towards foot traffic (aka large bodies, not faces or ethnicities).
If you’re here and shocked that companies can do this wrt privacy rights…. You have no privacy if you’re a consumer in the US. (See: any free email account you have, any store loyalty program, CC companies selling your data, consumers’ apathy/ignorance towards these practices, etc.)
I’ll leave the discussion open though – how do you feel about a store tracking your face? Would you shop at a store like Amazon Go, where you walk in, grab shit, and leave without hitting the register? Is the iPhone X the Antichrist? (Did you know the X can unlock your phone **when you’re wearing a sheet mask**? Now you do.) Want to rant about consumer protection laws or the lack of them in the US? Want to rant about the proliferation of security breeches and WHY ARE THEY HAPPENING WITH SENSITIVE INFORMATION IN THIS DAY AND AGE, EQUIFAX??? Please unleash your thoughts below
